The people in New Delhi woke up to
yet another cold morning today with intense fog persistent the capital and
general visibility falling to less than 50 meters. At 5:30 AM the temperature was
recorded 5.6 Degrees Celsius.
There are Poor visibility
recorded has thrown air, rail and road traffic totally out of gear. So far, at
least 20 flights have been affected in Delhi airport. While 5 international
flights have been delayed, 3 have been diverted and one cancelled, 7 domestic
flights have been delayed, one has been diverted and three cancelled.
Yesterday a thick layer of fog
had postponed almost 50 flights in the morning at the Delhi airport. Flights were
able to take off only after the fog cleared at about 10 am.
The other parts of north India also
persist to be in the grip of a harsh cold wave. In Rajasthan, temperatures in
most parts of the state have fallen by 4-6 Degrees Celsius in the past 48 hours
and the government has initiate to the schools not to open by 10 am.
